Mental Illness Sucks

June 15, 2022

< back to blog home

In this episode, Taylor shares her raw and real story of dealing with mental illness. From her childhood trauma to being diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety disorder, and PPD, Taylor doesn’t hold back on how mental illness has affected her life. She brings a refreshing perspective on normalizing mental illness and encourages listeners to seek help and know they’re not alone in their experiences.

There is nothing to be embarrassed about when it comes to mental illness. Nothing. And here’s why; we are all human and there’s a lot of things we have differing as humans – we have different races, we have different languages, we have different genders, we have different experiences, we have different backgrounds. But there is one thing we can all share and agree on is that we all have a mind and we all have feelings. And sometimes those minds and those feelings can’t sync the fuck up.

In this photo, I was at the peak of my depression. It was the same month I separated from my ex-husband and moved out onto my own in the city of Houston, working a new job and on the path to building a “new life”. I took a trip to LA thinking I’d have the time of my life. Looking back, and I can’t believe how normal I looked, when internally I was struggling with living. I’ll always remember this photo – of how happy I looked. Goes to show we never truly know what someone is going through.
